Cleanse Day 11: Market Spice Oats

I really need to start planning ahead better. Another busy day, so meal prep fell by the wayside (sneak peak at the bottom of this post of what we’ve been working on!). Pre-made meals to the rescue! 

Breakfast: Market Spice Oats

I took my tea-steeped oats idea from yesterday and decided to try it out with Market Spice’s signature Cinnamon-Orange Tea. Oh a taste of home! I still only did 2 tea bags for 4 cups of water (knowing this tea was a little stronger), but next time, I’d add another bag or two. The flavor seems to cook out a bit so when all is said and done, you’re left with a subtle hint of the flavor and aroma. Enough to be noticeable if you know what you’re looking for, but I prefer bolder flavors in my dishes.

Market Spice Oats

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 1 cup of steel cut oats
  • 4 cups of water steeped with 4 Market Spice Cinnamon Orange tea bags
  • A chunk of peeled ginger
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • 1 drop of Young Living Citrus Fresh Essential Oil per bowl

Instructions

  1. Prepare your tea until you’ve achieved your desired flavor.
  2. Pour the oats and tea into your slow cooker and set on low. Add the ginger and cinnamon.
  3. Set it and forget it!
  4. Serve with 1 drop of Young Living Citrus Fresh Essential Oil per bowl. Garnish with clementines if you like.

Since the flavor was so mild, the citrus fresh really worked to enhance the orange overtones. Plus, citrus fresh essential oil includes the naturally occuring constituent limonene (found in lemon and orange peels), which helps support metabolic functions*. Cleanse away!!

Lunch: Leftover Loaded Wadley Salad with Quinoa

Same as yesterday’s lunch. Not sick of it yet!

We saved some to-go containers from our pre-cleanse buffalo wing binge. Looks store bought!

Dinner: Chocolate Peppermint Shake with tri-colored peppers and hummus

Not the best combination together, but both were delicious individually.

Dinner for two…two people who get too entrenched in what they are working on that they forget to eat! We’ll try harder tomorrow 🙂

This one little drop of peppermint made for an incredibly flavorful shake! I mixed in one drop each, though one drop could have definitely flavored both. I left out the banana this time and it was still extremely pleasant.

Day trip to Tennessee tomorrow to meet more of the Wadley family! Yup, you guessed it, we’re bringing our own cleanse-friendly food along for lunch. Likely more salad. It’s such a blessing to have taste buds that never get sick of eating greens.
