Cleanse Day 14: Island Oats, Ginger Spiced Sweet Potato and Kale

Only 1 more week to go! We’ve all started dreaming of the places we’ll eat once this cleanse is over, but honestly, a lot of the places I would have wanted to eat at pre-cleanse do not sound as appealing anymore. It feels so much better to be eating real, whole foods, and I’d hate to go back to those awful “sugar hangovers” after overindulging on sweets (and let’s face it, once I get a little dessert, it’s all down hill from there…the sugar monster awakens and there’s no stopping his fury!!). Good thing fruits are starting to be all the sweet I need! Besides my sweet Mr. of course 😛 Continue reading Cleanse Day 14: Island Oats, Ginger Spiced Sweet Potato and Kale

Cleanse Day 13: Vegetable and Millet Soup

Today the Mr. and I got to enjoy a lovely stroll around Veteran’s Park. It was a gorgeous sunny day and it was great to get some fresh air. On our excursion away from the house, we decided to also stop by Earth Fare to hit up some deals since they are closing at the end of the month. Shopping took a little longer than expected…which brought back the “HANGER”! Good thing we were in a health food store and able to find an acceptable snack to eat 🙂 Kind bars held us over until we were able to make it home. Continue reading Cleanse Day 13: Vegetable and Millet Soup

Cleanse Day 12: Sweet Potato and Veggie Sauté

Just 9 more days of this cleanse! I’ll be honest, we all started getting a little “hangry” by the end of the day…The four of us made a trip up to Columbia, Tennessee so I could meet some more of the Wadley clan, so we spent most of the day in the car. Once we got to Grandy and Nana’s house, it was a team effort in the kitchen to put lunch together. Everything turned out great, and we had everyone eating cleanse friendly food! Continue reading Cleanse Day 12: Sweet Potato and Veggie Sauté

Cleanse Day 11: Market Spice Oats

I really need to start planning ahead better. Another busy day, so meal prep fell by the wayside (sneak peak at the bottom of this post of what we’ve been working on!). Pre-made meals to the rescue!  Continue reading Cleanse Day 11: Market Spice Oats

Cleanse Day 10: Chai Chia Oats

Today was one of those days when you get so caught up in what you are working on, that you nearly forget to eat! Good thing I had these dishes pre-made and waiting for me. Whenever you have a chance to do some extra meal prep to make things easier on yourself later, take advantage of it! Continue reading Cleanse Day 10: Chai Chia Oats

Cleanse Day 9: Salad – Simple to Store Bought

Today I may have come close to exceeding the maximum intake of greens one should consume in a day (can there be such a thing??). Aside from our usual steel cut oats in the morning, I found myself stumbling upon salad after salad for the rest of the day. With a little variety, I really didn’t mind my afternoon to evening salad trifecta. Plus, I was able to buy my first Alabama shirt while out to lunch with my sweet Auntie Kim, so I’d say today was a win (like the game last night, ROLL TIDE!).  Continue reading Cleanse Day 9: Salad – Simple to Store Bought

Cleanse Day 8: Shepherd’s Leftovers Pie

ROLL TIDE! Whelp, today’s menu was miles healthier than what we ate during the last Alabama game (oh pre-cleanse days…), but I’m sure we’ll feel a lot better tomorrow morning than we did a week and a half ago! Continue reading Cleanse Day 8: Shepherd’s Leftovers Pie

Cleanse Day 7: Vegetable and Red Lentil Soup

Officially 1 week down! I have really enjoyed the recipes we’ve been able to try, but the hardest thing has been planning ahead. It’s worth it to eat clean, but it does take a lot more time to prepare meals. With the time we had in between services today, I threw nearly all the leftover vegetables we had in a crock pot with some vegetable broth and red lentils so we could come home to a nice warm pot of soup (recipe below). Continue reading Cleanse Day 7: Vegetable and Red Lentil Soup

Cleanse Day 6: Stir Fried Collards and Sweet Potatoes

Today was a mix of meal-on-the-go and “let’s see what we have in the refrigerator and use it up.” I’d say we definitely got our daily recommended intake of fruits and veggies! We’re nearly 1 week into our cleanse and I’m starting to feel a bit more energized, and sleeping better too! Continue reading Cleanse Day 6: Stir Fried Collards and Sweet Potatoes

Cleanse Day 5: Spiced Carrot Juice

Today was definitely not as exciting as yesterday. We’ve had painters upstairs so the kitchen was out of commission most of the day. While I spent the last 3 months in Seattle as a basement dweller coming up with creative ways to cook, I just didn’t have enough energy today to set up any of our portable kitchen appliances. Alas, leftovers it is! Continue reading Cleanse Day 5: Spiced Carrot Juice
