Dairy Free Chocolate Ice Cream

Confession: I’ve been awake for probably around 38 hours by now (long story) and I’ve definitely developed a new appreciation for my sweet husband who’s been working night shift. So here I am, instead of going to sleep, I’m posting recipes. Sleep deprived brain is rather illogical. Maybe it’s all the coffee I ended up drinking today still lingering in my system…Whatever the reasoning, we’re talking CHOCOLATE, so two words: Worth. It. Cleanse Day 21: Hot Chocolate Pudding!

We’ve finally reached the end!! Wow, 21 days of clean eating. I can say that I feel SO much better than I did before we started. I have more energy, I don’t crave sugar like I used to, and I was able to lose the extra weight I had put on after all our honey-moon food (yes, you saw the pictures!), holiday dishes, and going-away meals. It feels good to be back on track! Funny – the things I missed the most during this cleanse were yogurt, eggs, and whey protein. So many more culinary possibilities to explore now! Continue reading Cleanse Day 21: Hot Chocolate Pudding!

Cleanse Day 18: Delicata Squash Volcanos

What a day! From the moment we woke up, it was go, go, go! The Mr. and I successfully made it to the gym, nearly cleared out Earth Fare’s inventory of protein powder and Kind Bars, went to the shooting range with the Schludnt’s, picked up some final items at Costco, and made it home in time to cook dinner for the family. After organizing our pantry, it looks like we’re running a health food store out of the basement! At least we’re good on protein powders for the next 2 years… Continue reading Cleanse Day 18: Delicata Squash Volcanos

Cleanse Day 15: Stress-Less Coconut Oats, Almond Meal Banana Pancakes

Officially into the final week of our 21-day detox. Today I learned that even if your bag of almond meal says it expired in 2013, it can still make for delicious pancakes 😛 Continue reading Cleanse Day 15: Stress-Less Coconut Oats, Almond Meal Banana Pancakes

Cleanse Day 14: Island Oats, Ginger Spiced Sweet Potato and Kale

Only 1 more week to go! We’ve all started dreaming of the places we’ll eat once this cleanse is over, but honestly, a lot of the places I would have wanted to eat at pre-cleanse do not sound as appealing anymore. It feels so much better to be eating real, whole foods, and I’d hate to go back to those awful “sugar hangovers” after overindulging on sweets (and let’s face it, once I get a little dessert, it’s all down hill from there…the sugar monster awakens and there’s no stopping his fury!!). Good thing fruits are starting to be all the sweet I need! Besides my sweet Mr. of course 😛 Continue reading Cleanse Day 14: Island Oats, Ginger Spiced Sweet Potato and Kale

Cleanse Day 13: Vegetable and Millet Soup

Today the Mr. and I got to enjoy a lovely stroll around Veteran’s Park. It was a gorgeous sunny day and it was great to get some fresh air. On our excursion away from the house, we decided to also stop by Earth Fare to hit up some deals since they are closing at the end of the month. Shopping took a little longer than expected…which brought back the “HANGER”! Good thing we were in a health food store and able to find an acceptable snack to eat 🙂 Kind bars held us over until we were able to make it home. Continue reading Cleanse Day 13: Vegetable and Millet Soup

Cleanse Day 8: Shepherd’s Leftovers Pie

ROLL TIDE! Whelp, today’s menu was miles healthier than what we ate during the last Alabama game (oh pre-cleanse days…), but I’m sure we’ll feel a lot better tomorrow morning than we did a week and a half ago! Continue reading Cleanse Day 8: Shepherd’s Leftovers Pie

Cleanse Day 3: Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie

This morning, I was super exhausted (perhaps a detox side effect?) so I woke up late, missed breakfast with the family, and had cold oats. Still tasty though! Continue reading Cleanse Day 3: Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie

Cleanse Day 2: Giant Cancer Fighting Salad

Day 2 and still excited about our 21-day detox! We ate a lot of the same things as yesterday but added some new twists.  Continue reading Cleanse Day 2: Giant Cancer Fighting Salad

Cleanse Day 1: Detox Vegetable Soup

Hello 2016. I knew it was inevitable. It’s CLEANSE TIME. After enjoying ourselves (maybe too much?!?!) over the holidays, our entire Wadley household has embarked on a 21-day cleanse. We are looking forward to having more energy and getting back to healthy habits. Had a few crazy recipes there for a while…but I’m hoping to finally get this blog back to it’s intended purpose: a healthified recipe source! Continue reading Cleanse Day 1: Detox Vegetable Soup
