If we’re being honest, the “sustenance” of my youth consisted of mostly chicken nuggets and TV dinners. Drive-thru meals were all too common, and I remember how upsetting it was when Arby’s raised their prices from 5 roast beef sandwiches for $5 to 5 for $5.95 (OUTRAGEOUS!). It wasn’t until my college years when I discovered that there was more to life than Top Ramen and Hot Pockets. After many hours of watching Food Network (while running on the treadmill, of course), I decided to give cooking a try.

While I hate to admit that I spent the majority of my former years consuming more ready-cooked-pop-it-in-the-microwave dishes than is probably recommended for a healthy, growing, human being, I’m now trying to make up for it with healthified choices that still look and taste wonderful. Welcome to my cookbook.

Yes, I still eat cake. And all too often…
